Visual Studies graduate coursesAHI 593 - Studies in the Art of the Americas This course exposes students to the art of Native American, Latino-Chicano, African- American and Asian-American artists whose work establishes relationships to Euro/western art in the 20th century. Critical historic events in each cultural area are linked to the "mainstream" of western based art history to expand one's view of art. The relationships between the Harlem renaissance, Wild Bill's West Shows, internment camps in WWII, and the return of Atzlan will be linked to the ongoing transformation of our understanding of art in a multiple cultural society.
