AHI 541 - Topics in Chinese Art

This seminar will focus on a well-defined era or a major movement, theme, or problem in the art of China. Possible areas of inquiry may include Chinese archaeology, Chinese religious art, Chinese painting of the classical era, pre-modern material culture and technology, and modern Chinese art; or issues in literati theory and criticism, patronage and reception of art, ideology and iconography, and the confrontation of "modernity" and "tradition" in recent times.
